Our annual Christmas postbox, open for cards for church friends , will once again be open for you to send cards to all your loved ones at Spalding URC.  It will be open on the Sunday after the Christmas Fair (27th November), all the way to Friday 16th December. The cards will then be sorted by our own wonderful team of Christmas Elves, ready for your collection after the service on Sunday 18th December. Though you are of course saved the stamp and delivery cost, please consider leaving a donation in the collection box towards church funds.

Poppy Preparations are Underway!
October 2022

On Sunday 3rd October we had a morning of worship and craft in the hall as we stuck, cut, drew and moulded paper poppies ready for decorating the church for Remembrance Sunday in November. BUT - if you were not able to join us; FEAR NOT! You have not missed out!

Over the next few weeks, we're asking everyone if they can help us by making as many poppies as they can at home. They can take whatever form you wish - paper cut-outs, origami, crochet, knitted, cross-stitched, papier-mache.... the choice is yours. All we ask is that you get them to church the week before Remembrance Sunday so that our wonderful team can arrange them all for the morning service.

Garden Gets a Spruce Up
August 2022

Our amazing church friends have been working wonders in our church garden this month. The trees have been cut back to allow space for other plants, the paths have had new slabs and an anti-slip covering, there are now two new, large wooden picnic tables, as well as solar lighting and new astro-turf.

If you would like to hire this space for your event, either on its own or with the Turner Room included, please get in contact with us via the 'Contact Us' section of our website.

Harvest Festival 2022
September 2022

We were very happy to see so many faces at our Harvest Festival service this year. During the morning the generosity of you all filled the display table with foods both fresh and tinned/boxed, and Agape Food Bank will be receiving all of these to go towards the vital work that they do in our community.

Agape Food Bank are a foodbank run by a friendly group of volunteers serving Spalding and South Holland Area. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-2pm, they provide warm meals and food parcels for the homeless. They also supply 3 day food parcels for those in crisis via a referral scheme from Citizens Advice, Social services and other support agencies. For further information on how to get a referral please drop them a Facebook message, please don't struggle - we are here to help. They have also recently started supporting local schools, who can nominate families in need to get a monthly food parcel for 3 months.

At Christmas they  provide parcels for families in need full of Christmas essentials from Crackers to Cranberry Sauce and all the bits in between.

They can be contacted in urgent situations on 07858 692289 or via email agapecare@live.uk.

Gift Service 2022
January 2022

Our gift service in January will be raising funds for The Tulip Suite at Johnson Community Hospital. The Tulip Suite is a four bed annexe to Welland Ward. Here, patients with palliative conditions can be admitted for care. Some are admitted for a short respite stay to allow their symptoms to be optimised, and others come to receive supportive end of life care.

This year any monetary donations raised at the Gift Service will be used to make support packs for bereaved families. These packs will contain items that celebrate the memory of their loved ones, such as memory boxes, forget-me-not seeds to plant, and inkless fingerprint kits. The packs will also offer advice and practical support to help cope with loss and grief. If you can think of any additional items to include in the packs please let me know.

We hope you will feel able to support this worthy cause. There will be an opportunity to donate during ad after the service

CHRISTMAS 2021 AT SPALDING URC

We have a range of services this Christmas to which all are welcome - long-time friends and those who may be attending a church for the first time are all equally welcome. All services have refreshments served afterwards which are only the cost of whatever donation you feel able to give.  Please keep an eye on our Diary page for a list of special events during the week, as well as our social medias.

To our regular church-friends, don't forget our church postbox is open now until 17th December at 4pm. This is only for cards to church attenders and will be available for collection after the service on the 19th.

COVID Update: September 2021

Although official restrictions have been eased off, we know that many people are still nervous about being in inside spaces. So, we are still operating on the following policies:

~ We recommend that you wear your mask still, though of course you can remove it for eating and drinking.

~ There is plenty of space inside our hall and sanctuary to spread out if you wish to, and we are still operating our one-way entry and exit system.

~ Hand sanitizer will be available.

And if you are showing COVID symptoms, or have been asked to isolate and have not been double jabbed, please respect those who are more at risk, and do not come into the building. We will happily welcome you in later on instead.

If you would prefer to stay away for now, check out our Online Services page for our lockdown services links, here.

Members on our email mailing list will still have access to weekly prayer sheets.
